Classroom Web Space

Picture
For the academic composition course for non-native speakers of English, I used ANGEL, a content management system, to connect the students to the class materials and to each other when and wherever they may be.  For every week, I created a folder containing all class presentations, activities, and assignments. Doing so helped in establishing a strong structure where students expect to see all they have studied in an organized manner. In addition, students who were absent during particular weeks were able to track down their assignments and review class materials for that week by only clicking on the week they have missed. To see a quick overview of ANGEL, you may download the video file below.

Electronic Calender

Picture
The use of an electronic calender differed significantly from a typical word-document schedule in three manners. Firstly, it allowed students to see updated deadlines and assignments in one location throughout the semester without the hassle of downloading a revised word version of the schedule. Secondly, and most importantly, the calender sends out reminders to students about upcoming deadlines and changes in the schedule. Thirdly, the calender can be treated as three different calenders as it has the option of creating a private calender within the ANGEL calender where only the teacher can see and modify.
